Our aim for ELYSIAN was to create an immersive, visually stimulating and engaging space. From the start of the project we made a conscious decision to have none of the physical garments in the space.

Our vision was to instead create a film with the garments being modelled that we would then project, using reflection to create illusion and further fill the space. This would make it more likely for people to fully look around our space and feel immersed in the ideas we wanted to portray.

Our art is the work of multiple layers; initially we experimented with light and reflection on gels. With this footage we edited colour and layering using different opacities finally creating the texture videos to be projected onto the garments in the studio.

Whilst we never finalised sound, we wanted to keep a conceptual/ fine art approach to the project, so researched into sounds rather than just music as we felt it could represent the garments more truly and creatively than just one piece of music could. This would also help keep people's attention, as we wouldn't want any sound or music to make the experience too busy, chaotic or confusing. We looked into water noises, nature sounds and the sound of a ticking clock as time was a running theme within our designers work.

We decided on using mirrors in the space to bounce the projection onto the opposing walls, filling our space further and making your eyes move around the space more. We were close to a final outcome but ended up shy of our final shoot.

Our final outcome would have been conceptually interesting and visually beautiful. Enabling us to produce a wonderfully unique space that would showcase the designers work in a new and interesting way that in our current climate would also be rather fitting.
